There a two organizations that support the Angelman community; the Angelman Syndrome Foundation (ASF) and the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics (FAST). We support the mission of both groups. Please read the brief descriptions below to help choose the organization that aligns best with your giving goals. Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics (FAST)
FAST is dedicated to finding a cure for AS and related disorders through funding an aggressive research agenda which is aimed at identifying treatments for the motor dysfunction, seizures, and behavioral characteristics of AS. “FAST takes pride in investing in high-risk, high reward research grants that have already produced positive and promising results.” As of January 2025, there are three FAST funded therapies in human clinical trails! There were zero therapies in trials in 2019. That’s how “fast” FAST is working for treatments for AS!
Angelman Syndrome Foundation (ASF)
The mission of ASF is to advance the awareness and treatment of Angelman syndrome through education and information, research, and support for individuals with Angelman syndrome, their families and other concerned parties, with the ultimate goal of finding a cure. ASF provide resources like AS specific clinics, funding for medical equipment, therapies, safety beds, communication devices, counseling services, behavior consults, and vital research that is leading to better treatments and ultimately a cure for AS. The fundraising walk held in May each year directly benefits ASF!
